Weekly Review

The Most Important Ritual

Purpose

The Weekly Review exists to:

  • Clean the system
  • Restore trust
  • Adjust scope

This is the primary maintenance ritual. If you only do one review, do this one.

When

  • Once per week, same day and time
  • 20–30 minutes
  • Put it on the calendar

Step 1 — Ignore Overdue Tasks

Do not start by cleaning up overdue items. That creates anxiety. You'll address them naturally during the review.

Step 2 — Scan All Projects

Walk through each of the five projects:

  1. Finance
  2. Career
  3. Health
  4. Relationships
  5. Habits

For each project, ask:

  • Are there outcomes that need attention?
  • Are there work units that are vague or too large?
  • Is anything irrelevant now?

Step 3 — Rewrite Vague Work Units

Any work unit that doesn't pass the one-sitting test needs to be rewritten or broken down.

Bad: "Work on trading system" Good: "Define entry rules for momentum strategy (30 min)"

Step 4 — Delete Aggressively

If something no longer matters, delete it. Don't move it, don't defer it — delete it.

Relief is the goal.

Step 5 — Check Upcoming Deadlines

Look at outcomes with deadlines in the next 2 months:

  • Are they still relevant?
  • Are they realistic?
  • Do they have enough work units?

Step 6 — Populate the Two-Week Window

Everything you intend to do in the next two weeks should have:

  • A due date
  • A rough duration (optional but helpful)

Step 7 — Calendar Reality Check

Look at next week's calendar:

  • Does it reflect reality?
  • Are buffers present?
  • Is rest protected?

Step 8 — Choose One Main Focus

Pick one thing that matters most this week. Everything else is secondary.

What This Prevents

  • Build-up of vague tasks
  • Losing sight of outcomes
  • Overcommitting
  • System distrust

Closing

The weekly review is where trust is restored.

If you protect this ritual, the system stays clean and calm.
